You want convenience, ease, durability, organization, and if you can… appealing design. I’ve had both Travelpro and Samsonite brands and I love them! I’ve listed a few suggestions that continue to be at the forefront for me and my hubby. Happy Travels my friend!

Soft Shell: 👓

Travelpro Platinum Elite and Maxlite 29″ is a fabulous piece of luggage for this wanting a soft shell. Ranked for it’s well made material and durability, easy zippers, expandability, has quality construction, design/functionality, capacity, 5.4 lb light weight, expandable, water resistant, sturdy, self-aligning wheels that, during roll tests, super smooth even straight roll. This brand has great spin ability! No tugging here! Great padded handles for lifting into airline overhead and vehicles, etc. Only Con: the color is common, so you’ll want to mark it with an identifier for yourself. 👩‍✈️

Hard Shell: 🕶

Samsonite Samsonite still holds the crown for best overall hard shell luggage. My husband and I love ours! Sure, you might get a scuff or two—who doesn’t?—but Samsonite consistently earns high marks for durability, easy zippers, smooth maneuvering, and lightweight designs. Plus, there’s a model for every budget. Yay! 👩‍✈️

Hard Shell vs Soft Shell ~ what’s up? 👩‍✈️

U.S. domestic carry-on sizes are typically larger than European ones. If in doubt, err on the smaller side to avoid surprise fees. And remember: just because a bag is cute doesn’t mean it’s practical! ✈️

From what I’ve gathered~ my 2 cents 💃

What to look for! 🧳

Quality imbedded spinners are best for protection and ease!
Quality Zippers are important, should glide around the corners of luggage easy and smooth
Expandable zippers
Extra pockets for organizing & storage
Sturdy
Self-aligning smooth wheels ~ do the roll test! Does it roll straight on its own?
Will the rollers go over uneven terrain with little effort?
Does it have helpful handle placement and quality to lift into overhead bins in airlines and transportation
Fits into spaces, including taxi’s, that are limited
