Turkey Burger Delightfully Moist & Oh So Delish!

There is a great burger joint in Los Angeles called Islands Restaurant, and I absolutely love their turkey burgers. I asked what their secret is to this amazing burger that makes it so moist, they said it’s the applesauce! I’ve been in love ever sense! 

How did I learn about great Turkey Burgers?

Now, I haven’t been a fan of turkey burgers in the past because they’re so dry and lack personality. It took me some time to create a great turkey burger that got my attention, and Islands Restaurant got me going. My rendition seems to be a huge crowd pleaser. This Islands Style burger is a favorite in my group! I’ve added a little Jilly flare for even more character.

How do you make Delightfully Moist Turkey Burgers?

There is a variety of Turkey Burger recipes that offer ways to make them moist. Los Angeles has a plethora of great restaurants, but for a low key great burger, Islands Restaurant was one of my favorites. And, quite frankly, the only place I would go for a Turkey Burger. I was never disappointed.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Fresh Ground Turkey 93% lean and 7% fat 

    1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce

    1 Minced Garlic

    2 tsp Vintners’s Kitchen Cabernet Seasoning & Rub

    ½ tsp Fines Herbs

    ½ tsp Onion Powder

    ¼ tsp Salt 

    14 tsp Pepper

    ¼ c. Finely chopped MushroomsSautéed in butter

    1 Finely chopped sweet white onion caramelized

    ¼ c. unsweetened Motts Applesauce

    Fresh Farm tomatoes

    Lettuce 

    Mayo – spread to your liking

    Add Swiss Cheese or your favorite cheese 

    Add Avocado or Guacamole for extra flare!

Directions

  • In a large mixing bowl, add Ground Turkey, Worcestershire Sauce, Minced Garlic, Vintners’s Kitchen Cabernet Seasoning & Rub,Fines Herbs, Onion Powder, Salt, and Pepper. Get your heads in there and mix by hand, all ingredients together, and set aside.
  • Sauté mushrooms in butter, let cool.
  • Sauté white onion until caramelized. Let cool.
  • Add Applesauce and fold in.
  • Add Mushrooms and caramelized onions. Give one last mix by hand, to insure all ingredients are mixed in well together.
  • BBQ or Broil approximately 8 minutes or until the internal temperature reads 165°F (74°C).
